Creature Comforts: A Sweet Success
C.V.H.S. held its first annual coffee and dessert tasting event on Sunday, Feb. 22nd at The Governor's Inn, Rochester. Many people turned out on the lovely, spring-like day to please their palette with all kinds of confections.

Delicious desserts were provided by our host, The Governor's Inn, Sweet Flours Bakery, English Garden Teas, Fogarty's Restaurant, Creative Confections, Strafford Farms Restaurant, Friendly's Restaurant, Weathervane Seafood Restaurant., Shop N' Save, Aunt Marie's Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Care Pharmacy, Wooden Nichols, Panda Buffet, 301 Restaurant, and Harvey's Bakery. Coffee and tea were freshly brewed by Carpe Diem Coffee Roasting Co. and English Garden Teas. While patrons nibbled on sweets and treats, the Ocean Winds Flute Ensemble delighted them with various selections.

We raised over $1,100.00 for the animals. A huge THANK YOU to all our sponsors and to all our supporters who came out. We are planning on growing this event into an annual fundraiser. We have 9 months to work off all those calories and get ready to work out again next year.......... Watch our fall newsletter for next year's date!

Dover Girl Scouts Plan "The Big Help"

As we go to print, the Dover Girl Scouts are organizing their second "Tbe Big Help" project for the shelter. On March 28, the scouts dropped off shopping bags donated by Hannaford/Shop N' Save to households in Dover who are being requested to fill them with food and related items for the animals at the shelter. On April 4th, the scouts will pick up the bags and bring them to the Riverside Rest Home on County Farm Road for sorting. Residents of the rest home will provide juice and treats for the participating troops. The scouts earn points toward their merit badge and will receive information on Humane Education and a certificate of appreciation for their good work from the shelter. A therapy dog will be on hand to interact with the scouts and the residents. Last year's big help bags lasted 4 - 6 months. We salute Dover Girl Scouts!

Murals Depict Humane Education Focus
