Walk-A-Doggie-Thon Pledge Walk Fact Sheet

Where?

The event is at the Strafford County Courthouse by the shelter. We walk the Cathy Schiro O'Brien Cross Country Trail. Take the Spaulding Turnpike (Rte. 16) to Exit 9, Sixth Street. Turn left at the end of the ramp and follow to end. Turn right at Liberty Mutual. Take first left on to County Farm Road. Follow one mile to Strafford County Courthouse on the right and turn into the parking lot. Parking is not permitted on the street. Additional parking is available in the upper lot across from courthouse.

When?

Rain or shine, we will walk for the animals on Sunday, June 10, 2001. Registration begins at 10:30 for the Fun Dog Show. The dog show begins at 11:00 AM. Blessing of the Animals and pledge walk start at 1:00 PM.

Why walk?

To help care for homeless pets. If the community raises $15,000 in pledges this year, that will provide care for 100 animals.

Who should be on a team?

Everyone! Ask your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

How many team members?

It's up to you. A team as small as two people is fine, but several people on a team can collect more pledges for the animals. If you have a large team, select a co-captain to help you.

How much should we collect?

The sky's the limit! All pledges benefit homeless animals. Encourage your sponsors to contribute an amount for the entire walk, as it is not a multi-mile event. Where possible, collect pledges from sponsors at the time you request to allow more time for you to ask others. The team turning in the most pledges will be awarded a special plaque and team prize. Yea, TEAM!

Must we have a dog to participate?

Dog not required! The Pledge Walk is about the community caring for all types of shelter animals. Dogs on leashes 6' or less are welcome to walk. Bring current rabies certificate and tags. Please leave cats and small animals at home the day of the walk.

Should I send in anything prior to the walk?

Please fax the completed Team Sign-Up Sheet in this packet to the Walk Coordinator by Friday, June 1st to 603-749-3484 or mail to C.V.H.S., Walk Coordinator, 262 County Farm Rd, Dover, NH 03820.

When do we turn in our pledges?
Continue collecting pledges up until the walk and turn them in on June 10th by 12:45PM. Do not send in your pledge form in to the shelter prior to walk day unless you are unable to attend (mailing address on bottom of pledge form.

What should we bring with us on walk day?

Your team members and team spirit! Remember to bring individual pledge forms and collection to be eligible for prizes. Complete the top half of the team registation form and bring it on walk day. Registration volunteers will verify amounts and enter your entire team for the team prize. The $10 entry fee will be waived for each team member turning in $100 or more in pledges before the walk!

Should team members register individually?

Yes, if you'd like to be eligible for the top three individual prizes, check the "important" box on the top of your pledge form.
