Kitty Litter Crisis!

Posted Sunday, August 11, 2002 by cvhs

Three tons of cat litter. No, that's not the annual inventory of cat litter at your local pet supply store, that's how much litter we can go through in just a month at the Cocheco Valley Humane Society! If you have a cat, or a few, you know what it's like to lug bags of cat litter from the store every week or two. Now imagine using fifty to sixty (yup, 50-60) 25 lb. bags every week. That's between 5000 and 6000 pounds, up to three tons, each month.

The cost and manpower needed to handle this necessity can be staggering. More than 50 cats and kittens are currently calling the CVHS home and we can use your help. We don't use anything fancy, just the plain clay litter, so if you can help, our feline friends would really appreciate it!
